A new special school specifically designed to meet the needs of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is soon to open its doors.

The Warwickshire Academy offers 80 full-time places for learners aged 9 – 19 years who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The new school, which is situated in Ash Green benefits from a wide range of facilities including forest school areas, outdoor spaces and sports pitches including a multi-use games area, and specialist teaching suites.

In addition to the outdoor provision, the multi-million-pound investment made by Warwickshire County Council also includes food technology and science rooms and a new sports pavilion and gym.

Electrical contractors, Cheshire Contracting & Controls Ltd. awarded GBIS the contract to upgrade the existing intruder alarm, along with installing a new CCTV and access control system.

GBIS got to work initially carrying out remedial works to the existing Risco intruder alarm system, to ensure a fully working and compliant system. The next phase of works included but was not limited to a new CCTV system throughout the school, and more than eighty doors and gates installed on Paxton Net2 access control. This included video door entry to vehicles access/egress and main school entrance all controlled by the school.

The combination of the systems installed offers both simplicity and greater peace of mind for the safety of both pupils and staff.

All monitoring and maintenance contracts were included.
